Mohawk Braid Top Knot

Mohawk Braid Top Knot

I’ve loved the Iroquois trend lately and can not get enough of it. Today’s tutorial shows a Dutch braid to a small messy knot in a half-high style. I’ll also show you how to curl your hair with a curling stick to get big, everyday curls. I recently received Nume’s Lustrum set and love the different types of curls I can get from the five different bars in the set.

Here are a few discount codes if you want to get your own set of Nume:

  • For 40% off the site * + Free shipping in the US use the code “MissySue”
  • For $ 100 from each set, use the code “CurlySue”

Do not forget to look at these other Mohawk styles!

You will need:

  • Comb
  • Styling clip
  • hairband
  • hairpins
  • rubber band
  • Hot tool, ie. Curling iron (my favorite) , hair straightener or curling iron (I use the Nume Lustrum set)

Manual:

  • Step 1 / Start by cutting off the upper part of the hair. To do this, create two pieces from the corners of the forehead back to the crown. Cut off the upper part and tie off the lower part so that it does not get in the way. Now lower the top section to make the braid.
  • Step 2 / Create a Dutch braid along the middle of the top of the head. Watch this video for a brief overview on how to make a Dutch braid.
  • Step 3 / When the braid reaches the back of the crown and all hair is brought in, tie it into a messy knot. Here is a tutorial for my favorite messy bun or try the “Easyest Top Knot” tutorial.
  • Step 4 / Once the bun is tight, grab your favorite curly stick, straightener or curling iron {I use Nume’s Lustrum Set} and add a few waves to the rest of the hair.
  • Step 5 / Finish with some hairspray and you’re ready to go!
