HairStyle Fix

Woven ponytail tutorial

This hairstyle is perfect if you love a peppy ponytail but want to try something new. The braids on both sides are actually a waterfall braid and French braid, which make them an absolute breeze if you already love to do these. It’s actually the same technique as in this new tutorial. They really stitch together tightly and then strategically pulling out the edges creates a complicated woven effect that makes the braids look more difficult than they actually are.

For a similar style, be sure and check out the Double Woven Braid Braid, which is a Dutch braid and Dutch Braid combination.

Woven ponytail tutorial steps:

  1. With a part on the left side, separate the hair from the back of the head so that it creates a left and right side.
  2. Tie the right side so that it is not in the way to work on the left side first.
  3. Take a 3-inch piece of hair, next to the part, and split it into three pieces for a waterfall braid.
  4. Cross over the side strands one after the other over the middle, starting with the back strand.
  5. Next, cross the back strand over the middle and bring in a section of hair that will incorporate you into the crossed strand.
  6. Lower the front strand and bring a section of hair directly underneath and cross over the middle part as a replacement piece.
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until the braid reaches the part at the back of the head.
  8. Braid the rest of the hair into a regular braid, tie it with a rubber band and stab it out of the way.
  9. Next, take a strand of hair near the face below the waterfall pigtail and divide it into three parts, with the first strand of waterfall in one piece.
  10. Cross the back strand over the middle and then cross the front strand over the middle.
  11. Cross the back strand over the middle and integrate the next waterfall strand to get a French braid.
  12. Cross the lower strand over the middle and bring a strand of hair as for a normal French braid.
  13. Continue to braid the hair down to the back, the middle part again, keeping the braids close together, creating a woven effect.
  14. Once it reaches the part, braid the hair into a regular braid and tie it with a clear elastic band similar to the first braid.
  15. Now lower the hair on the right side and repeat steps 3 to 14 with the hair on this side.
  16. When all the hair is plaited, wrap everything into a ponytail and pull out the little elastic bands from each pigtail.
  17. Gently pull on the edges of all plaits so they look thicker and more combo.
  18. Take a piece of hair under the ponytail, wrap it around the hair band and fasten it under the ponytail with a hairpin.
  19. Grab a curling iron and roll the ends of the ponytail.
  20. Then finish with a few splashes of hair spray to hold everything.
